    Tiergarten

"Tiergarten" – for new Berliners, that sounds like a park or a zoo. Both are true, and there are "big animals" (VIPs) here too: in the government district. At the very least, the zoo is cult status, ever since Knut the polar bear took hearts by storm. Politicians rarely manage to do that…

You live centrally between City East and City West. Especially popular are the streets with a view of the Spree: living by the water. More and more nice shops and restaurants are gathering around Kirchstraße. Morbid old buildings have since been renovated, but rental prices are still moderate. The proximity to the Technical University and the good connections to Mitte make this neighborhood popular.

On the Berlin city map, the three-kilometer-long and one-kilometer-wide Tiergarten appears like a green island – at 2,000 hectares, six times as large as Central Park in New York. Until the middle of the 18th century, electors hunted here; today, stressed city dwellers relax on secluded lawns or stroll along extensive paths.
